"What is Healthy Skin?"

Dr. Obagi's definition of healthy skin is used for evaluating your skin, as well as determining what is needed to make it and keep it healthy. Healthy skin is:

  • Free from disease
  • Smooth
  • Even in color tone
  • Strong
  • Hydrated
  • Tight and firm

When selecting any skin care program, you must remember that "painting a crumbling wall will not prevent the wall from crumbling". In other words, using ineffective over-the-counter products to treat a medical condition will not correct it and can possibly make it worse, leading to skin damage. According to Dr. Obagi's definition, skin care products that offer artificial smoothness, temporary hydration, or promise anti-aging benefits with quick results, are not going to make the skin healthy.

In order to make skin healthy, products need to work at the cellular level. All of Dr. Obagi's systems and programs are designed to work at the cellular level, activating skin cells to make them function better and help skin renew itself, "just like a baby's skin".
